# FAQ

> Common questions about fees, security, and getting started.

<AccordionGroup>
  <Accordion title="Can I lose money?">
    Yes. Copying a trader with a strong track record lowers the odds of a bad outcome, it doesn't remove them. Markets move, leverage cuts both ways, and even well-scored traders have losing weeks. Never allocate more than you can afford to lose, and check a trader's worst dip, not just their total return, before starting a copy.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Does MirrorTrade ever hold my money?">
    No. You always trade from your own wallet. MirrorTrade is given permission to place trades on your behalf, never to withdraw funds. See [how copying works](/how-copying-works) for the full breakdown.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="What does MirrorTrade charge?">
    A small fee, built into each trade rather than charged as a separate subscription. It's 0.02% on manual trades placed yourself, 0.05% on copy-trading trades, and 0.10% on basket trades. There's no fee just for browsing the Copy or Discover feeds.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Is there a minimum amount to get started?">
    There's no large deposit requirement. The only floor is Hyperliquid's own \$10 minimum order size, your balance needs to be enough that the trader's positions can be mirrored above that. If it isn't, MirrorTrade tells you exactly how much more you'd need.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Can I copy more than one trader at once?">
    Yes. Each copy is its own independent strategy with its own dedicated wallet, so you can run multiple copy strategies and baskets at the same time, and manage them individually from your Portfolio.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Can I change how much I'm copying with after I start?">
    You can adjust your allocation on a running strategy, but the choice between Full Mimic and Forward Mimic locks in when you start it and can't be switched mid-strategy. See [Full Mimic vs Forward Mimic](/full-mimic-vs-forward-mimic).
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="What happens when I pause a copy?">
    Pausing stops MirrorTrade from opening any new trades for that strategy, but your existing open positions stay live and continue to move with the market. Nothing gets force-closed.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="What happens when I stop a copy?">
    Stopping ends the strategy and begins unwinding your open positions. It's the difference between "stop following new moves" (pause) and "close this out" (stop).
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="What assets can I trade or copy?">
    Whatever the trader you're copying trades on Hyperliquid, spanning crypto, tokenized stocks, indices, forex, and commodities. The [Discover page](/discover-page) is a good way to see the full range of assets and how tracked traders are positioned in each.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Do the traders I copy know I'm copying them?">
    No. Copying happens entirely on your side, from your own wallet. The trader you're copying has no visibility into who is following them.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Why do some traders disappear from the feed?">
    We keep re-checking every listed trader against the same floors and score we used to list them. If a trader's performance drops below the bar, they come off the feed. See [how we shortlist traders](/how-we-shortlist-traders).
