# How we shortlist traders

> The filters and scoring that decide who is allowed on the Discover feed, without giving away the exact formula.

Not every wallet that trades on Hyperliquid makes it onto MirrorTrade. Getting listed takes clearing a few hard filters and then scoring well across several dimensions. Here's the process, in the order it actually runs.

## Step 1: Discover active traders

Traders enter our tracked pool from Hyperliquid's public leaderboard and our own ongoing discovery process, which continuously watches on-chain activity for wallets worth evaluating.

## Step 2: Remove weak evidence

Before anything gets scored, a trader has to clear minimum floors on account size and real trading profit. This step exists to filter out accounts that are too small or too new to tell you anything meaningful, a lucky trade from a \$500 wallet doesn't prove skill.

## Step 3: Score across nine signals

Traders who clear the floors get scored on nine separate signals, not just raw profit. We keep the exact weighting private (it's the part of this that's actually hard to build), but the categories we look at include things like:

* Overall profitability
* How deep their worst drawdown went
* Consistency over the long run and over the last 90 days
* Recent momentum
* Return relative to capital deployed
* How efficiently they trade
* Risk-adjusted and downside-adjusted returns

A trader who made a lot of money on one oversized bet scores very differently from a trader who made the same money steadily. We built it this way on purpose: raw profit rewards luck, and we're trying to surface skill.

## Step 4: Keep the shortlist fresh

Passing once isn't permanent. We keep re-checking every listed trader against the same floors and score, and traders who stop qualifying drop off the feed. Nobody gets a lifetime pass.

## What this doesn't mean

Clearing our filters means the evidence behind a trader is stronger than average, it does not mean future profits are guaranteed. Every trader can still have a bad week, change their style, or take on more risk than their history suggests. Review a trader's worst dip and consistency, not just their total return, before deciding how much to allocate. See the [FAQ](/faq) for more on risk.
